Petty Officer Coons attended CTA (Cryptologic Technician Administrative) Class "A" School in Pensacola, FL. After "A" school, he was stationed at NSGA Pearl Harbor, HI. Then he was transferred to the Admiral's Staff at Commander, Naval Security Group Command Washington DC where he excelled in many duties as well as Command Functions including the Immigrant Children's Christmas Festival. For his zealous dedication to duties he was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal. Additionally, he was awarded a Good Conduct Medal. He achieved the rank of Petty Officer Second Class. Petty Officer Coons was Honorably Discharged from the Navy in Newport, RI.
He is interred at Quantico National Cemetery, VA
